SUDBURY -- An altercation July 4 in Kapuskasing ended with four people in jail facing numerous drug and other charges.

The James Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to the call at 6.p.m. about a disturbance on Dallyn Avenue.

"Police investigation revealed that the incident also involved dangerous driving, as well as a controlled substance and four persons were arrested for various offences," the OPP said in a news release.

Police seized suspected cocaine, a weapon, drug paraphernalia and Canadian currency, all with a combined estimated street value of $7,500.

A 38 year old from Kapuskasing faces several charges, including assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a vehicle, possession of the proceeds of crime and cocaine. A court date of Sept. 28 has been set to deal with those charges.

A 24 year old, also from Kapuskasing, is charged with cocaine possession and failing to comply with probation orders. Sept. 28 is also the court date for that case.

The third person arrested is 37, and they are charged with assault with a weapon and cocaine possession. Their court date is Aug. 10.

Finally, a 26 year old is charged with assault and cocaine possession, with a court date set for Aug. 10.
