ABOUT THE RIDING
The riding is the second largest in terms of land mass in Ontario. It extends from Hudson Bay and James Bay down to Timmins. It also includes Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls and Hearst, as well as many First Nations communities.

VOTING HISTORY
Prior to 1999, Timmins-James Bay consisted of two ridings, the full Cochrane-North riding as well as part of Cochrane-South. In Cochrane-North, the riding was Conservative from 1948 to 1984. Prior and after that period, the riding swung Liberal. In 1990, the riding voted NDP. In Cochrane-South, the riding swung mostly between the Conservatives and the NDP/CCF. Since 1990, the NDP has held this region.
