ABOUT THE RIDING
The riding encompasses communities mostly around the Ontario-Quebec border but also includes areas such as Cochrane and Iroquois Falls. It extends from Cochrane District to the Quebec border down to Lake Nipissing. The riding was formed in 1999 and combines portions of several previous ridings.

VOTING HISTORY
The riding was created in 1999 and consists of portions of the old ridings of Cochrane-North, Cochrane-South, Nipissing, Sudbury-East and Nickel Belt. The Liberals under David Ramsay represented the riding from 1999 to 2011 when Ramsay retired from politics. Since then, the riding has been NDP.
