ABOUT THE RIDING
The riding of Sault Ste. Marie is one of two urban ridings in Northeastern Ontario (the other being Sudbury). It encompasses most of the municipality of Sault Ste. Marie and includes Black Road as well as Algoma University and the municipal airport.

VOTING HISTORY
David Orazietti's victory in 2003 ended a sixty year drought for the Liberals in this riding. Since its inception in 1902, the riding has been mostly held by the PCs however in the 1940s and more recently between 1985 and 2003, the riding has been represented by the NDP.
