One person killed in Hwy. 17 crash in northwestern Ont.

The driver of a passenger vehicle was killed early this morning in a collision with a commercial motor vehicle on Highway 17 near Dryden.

Ontario Provincial Police, fire and EMS responded at 2 a.m. to the crash site, located west of the city.

"The driver of the passenger motor vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene," the OPP said in a news release.

"The driver of the CMV did not sustain any injuries."

Traffic collision reconstructionist and the OPP's North West Region traffic incident management and enforcement team are helping with the ongoing investigation.

Highway 17 at Leach Road to Vermillion Bay remained closed as of late Thursday morning.
