One person killed in Hwy. 11 crash in northwestern Ont.

One person was killed Thursday evening in a collision on Highway 11 east of Geraldton, Ont.

Green Stone Ontario Provincial Police and EMS responded to the crash around 6:40 p.m. The single-vehicle crash took place at mile marker 1062, police said in a news release Friday.

"One passenger from a motor vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene," police said.

"Another passenger was transported to hospital by EMS to be treated for serious injuries."

The OPP North West Region traffic incident management and enforcement team and OPP collision reconstructionists are helping with the ongoing investigation.

Highway 11 was closed for the investigation and reopened around 5 a.m. Friday.
