SUDBURY -- Public Health Sudbury & Districts reported another four COVID-19 cases in Greater Sudbury over the weekend, plus a new one Monday morning. The number of total cases in the health unit's coverage area now stands at 219 since the pandemic began.

The case reported Monday occured in Greater Sudbury with the source of infection unknown. Of the cases reported over the weekend, three of the people infected are from Greater Sudbury, one is from the Manitoulin district. Two cases were a result of close contact with a confirmed case, with the source of infection in the other two cases is unknown.

Neither the age range nor gender of the latest cases was released. There are currently 11 active cases in the area.

The outbreak at Pioneer Manor, declared when a staff member tested positive, ended over the weekend. And as of Nov. 20, 102,951 COVID tests had been performed in the health unit's coverage area.

Sudbury's health unit now updates the local COVID count twice a day, at 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., rather than issuing individual news releases.

Sudbury is currently in the Yellow-Protect zone under the provincial framework, which "serves as a signal to our communities that we are going in the wrong direction and that we must recommit to public health measures."
