Off-duty police spots shoplifter, leads to $112K in drugs, four arrests

An off-duty police officer in Temiskaming Shores uncovered a much bigger case when they spotted a shoplifter on Labour Day.
The Ontario Provincial Police officer spotted someone stealing from a business on Highway 11 in Dymond Township on Sept. 2 and took them into custody.
The suspect's vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted on Shepherdson Road in New Liskeard. The occupants were arrested and the vehicle was searched incident to arrest.
"Through investigation, police arrested three additional persons and seized a large quantity of fentanyl and methamphetamine," the OPP said in a social media post.
The drugs have a street value estimated at $112,000.
All four suspects have been charged in the case, a 38-year-old man from North Bay, a 38-year-old man from Ajax, a 36-year-old woman from Cobalt and a 36-year-old woman from North Bay.
All four accused we charged with possession prceeds of property obtained by crime, theft and two drug trafficking charges. The 36-year-old North Bay woman faces an an additional charge of failing to comply with a release order.

All of the accused were held in custody pending the results of a court appearance on Friday.
None of the accuasations has been proven in court.
