Northwestern Ont. police seize cash and weapons in $126k cocaine bust
A 54-year-old suspect has been charged after Ontario Provincial Police capped a three-month investigation with a raid of a residence in Schreiber, Ont.
Police seized 1,262 grams of what they believe to be cocaine, along with cash and weapons.
The investigation, dubbed ‘Project Plateau,’ focused on drug trafficking in Terrace Bay and Schreiber, communities about two hours east of Thunder Bay.
The OPP worked with the assistance of the Provincial Operations Intelligence Unit and the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Intelligence Unit.
The search of the residence on Centennial Drive in Schreiber took place April 30-May 1. The suspect, a resident of Schreiber, has been charged with trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000 and weapons charges.
The approximate street value of the drugs seized is $126,200, police said. The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday.
