SUDBURY -- After months of bargaining and negotiating with the Ministry of Education, the unions representing Ontario high school teachers and support staff have reached a tentative deal with the provincial government.

Education Minister Stephen Lecce announced Monday that the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation, the Ontario Public School Boards' Association, and the Council of Trustees' Associations have all reached tentative 3-year agreements with the province.

While no specifics have been shared with the media or local unions, Eric Laberge, the president of OSSTF District 3 for the Rainbow District School Board, remains optimistic at this latest progress.

"We’re glad, at least I’m glad, that we’re moving forward," said Laberge. "It will be interesting to see what the details are, of course, that’s where the devils are, in the details. But, relieved that we can move to the next phase and see what we’re going to get with this deal."
