Fort Albany First Nation has closed schools and banned social gatherings to combat a recent outbreak of illness.
In a notice dated Jan. 5 and posted on Facebook, the First Nation said the measures are needed because of a surge of respiratory illnesses in our region" that are "overwhelming our local clinic."
"Masks must be worn when visiting public spaces," the notice said.

"Stay home if having a cold or flu symptoms. Practice social distancing."
Residents are also being urged to wash their hands frequently and get vaccinated to protect their families and other residents.
