SUDBURY -- Northern Ontario health care centres and food banks will share more than $63,000 raised by residents donating their empties at the Beer Store.

Since March, many customers returning empty containers to the Beer Store have been donating their refunds to local charities. In those six months, more than $63,438 was raised.

"We thank the people of Sudbury and northern Ontario for their incredible generosity. To donate their returns in such large numbers clearly demonstrates how much they want to show their support for people working at local health centres and foodbanks," said Beer Store President Ted Moroz. "We’d like to thank all our customers for their patience and community spirit at this extraordinary time. They’ve demonstrated that we truly are all in this together."

Province-wide, a total of $2.3 million was collected.
