Northern Ontario resident tests positive for COVID-19 outside of region
SUDBURY -- Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) reported one new COVID-19 infection among residents in the area along with one resolved case Wednesday morning.
No details about the age, gender, resident's location or exposure were given.
"This individual became infected and was tested on Sept. 14 and remains in self-isolation outside the PHU region," said the health unit in a news release. "Following provincial protocol, cases are reported and attributed to the health unit they reside in permanently."
This new case marks the 77th positive case confirmed in the PHU service area, which includes Timmins, Cochrane, Hearst, Hornepayne, Iroquouis Falls, Matheson, Smooth Rock Falls, and the James and Hudson Bay region.
As of Wednesday morning, there are three active cases among residents in the PHU region and there have been nine COVID-related deaths.
Families are encouraged to use this online screening tool each day before going to school.

Take preventive measures to reduce the spread:
- Physical distancing — keeping at least 2 metres or 6 feet distance — between yourself and others
- Stay home if you're feeling ill - everyone, not just travellers, and even if it feels just like a cold
