A 24-year-old suspended driver faces a pair of charges following a northern Ontario traffic complaint last week.

Members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment responded to a traffic complaint on Causley Street in the Town of Blind River at about 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 12.

“A westbound white cube van ran a red light,” police said in a news release.

Approximately 30 minutes later at about 11 p.m., officers observed the cube van on Highway 17 near River Street in the Town of Thessalon.

“(Police) initiated a traffic stop,” said the OPP.

“A query revealed the driver was breaching a curfew and was a suspended driver.”

As a result, a 24-year-old man from Brampton, Ont., has been charged with failing to comply with release orders and driving while under suspension.

He was held for a bail video hearing and was remanded.

None of the accusations has been proven in court.
