Northern Ont. senior, 89, charged with impaired driving

A traffic stop in West Nipissing late Tuesday evening resulted in impaired driving charges.

Ontario Provincial Police stopped the vehicle on Levesque Street around 11 p.m. and spoke with the driver.

“The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing,” police said in a news release Wednesday.

An 89-year-old suspect from West Nipissing was charged with impaired driving. They were released and have a court date of June 6 in North Bay.

The suspect’s driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and the vehicle is impounded for a week.
