Northern Ont. police investigating theft of multiple guns

Police are seeking the public's assistance with their investigation of multiple rifles stolen from a residence on King Street in Mattice.

The guns went missing sometime between October 2021 and April of this year, Ontario Provincial Police said Wednesday.

Missing are:

• A 12-gauge shotgun, Winchester Model 50

• An 8mm bolt action rifle, Remington Model 700

• A bolt action rifle, Ceskoslovenska Zbrojovka, AS, BRNO Model 257ACK

• A .303 calibre rifle, of unknown make or model

“The firearms were believed to have been stolen sometime between October of 2021 and April of 2024,” the OPP said in a news release.

“Procuring stolen firearms is a serious criminal offence and holding those responsible accountable is essential to ensuring a safer community for everyone.”

Anyone who has information on this case is asked to contact the Hearst OPP at 1-888-310-1122. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit information online where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
