Northern Ont. man charged after assaulting OPP officer at local detachment
An Elliot Lake man has been charged with assaulting a police officer — in the lobby of a local Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment.
At about 10 p.m. on April 10, the man attended the OPP detachment and demanded assistance with a non-police matter, said police in a news release.
“When officers attempted to help, the person became irate, unreasonable and assaulted an officer,” reads the release.
As a result of the incident, the 39-year-old local man was charged with assaulting a peace officer.
The accused was held pending a bail hearing on Thursday.
None of the accusations has been proven in court.
