North Bay vehicle stolen with two firearms inside, arrest made, one gun still missing
A 49-year-old local woman is facing several charges after North Bay police located a vehicle on Sunday morning that had been reported stolen along with two firearms, however, one gun is still missing.
At about 5 p.m. on March 22, the North Bay Police Service (NBPS) responded to a call concerning a stolen vehicle with firearms inside on Main Street East.
“It became apparent that a female, who was known to the victim, was at the residence and stole the victim’s wallet, phone, car keys and $200 cash, while the victim was asleep,” said police in a news release.
“The accused then stole the victim’s 2018 Toyota Camry, which had two firearms located inside.”
Just before 8 a.m. on Sunday, NBPS was contacted by a “vehicle satellite company” that indicated it had been tracking the stolen vehicle.
Police attended the area of McIntyre Street East, located the vehicle and arrested the 49-year-old North Bay woman – who had been operating the stolen vehicle with a suspended liscence.
“One of the two firearms were recovered at that time,” said police.
“The accused was also found to be in possession of small quantities of three controlled substances.”
Police seized a quantity of crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl along with 10 hydromorphone pills.
The NBPS also recovered the stolen vehicle and a 12 gauge shotgun and ammunition.
