A 49-year-old local woman is facing several charges after North Bay police located a vehicle on Sunday morning that had been reported stolen along with two firearms, however, one gun is still missing.

At about 5 p.m. on March 22, the North Bay Police Service (NBPS) responded to a call concerning a stolen vehicle with firearms inside on Main Street East.

“It became apparent that a female, who was known to the victim, was at the residence and stole the victim’s wallet, phone, car keys and $200 cash, while the victim was asleep,” said police in a news release.

“The accused then stole the victim’s 2018 Toyota Camry, which had two firearms located inside.”

Just before 8 a.m. on Sunday, NBPS was contacted by a “vehicle satellite company” that indicated it had been tracking the stolen vehicle.

Police attended the area of McIntyre Street East, located the vehicle and arrested the 49-year-old North Bay woman – who had been operating the stolen vehicle with a suspended liscence.

“One of the two firearms were recovered at that time,” said police.

“The accused was also found to be in possession of small quantities of three controlled substances.”

Police seized a quantity of crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl along with 10 hydromorphone pills.

The NBPS also recovered the stolen vehicle and a 12 gauge shotgun and ammunition.

Police said there is a concern for public safety given the firearm is still missing.

Police are asking anyone with information related to this incident or the missing firearm to call the NBPS at 705-497-5555 or contact Crime Stoppers.

The accused is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm for the purposes of trafficking, possession firearm contrary to a prohibition order, motor vehicle theft, theft and driving while under suspension along with three drug possession charges.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and was remanded until March 27.
