North Bay skill hill hosts free family fun night in support of mental health

Laurentian Ski Hill is inviting the North Bay community to a free night of skiing and other family friend activities on Saturday.

The event is being put on by the hill in partnership with Deacon Wealth Management in support of Chat4Chad and their mental health initiatives in the area.

“Physical exercise and getting outside are great for your mental health, so bringing Chat4Chad together with Laurentian Ski Hill is a natural and powerful partnership,” said Steve Deacon of Deacon Wealth Management, said in a news release.

“(We are) proud to support both amazing organizations and cordially invite you to join us for free skiing on March 2nd in support of Chat4Chad.”

Laurentian Ski Hill on Janey Avenue is a non-profit organization offering skiers and snowboarders 1.5 km of slopes, a 106-metre vertical drop, a terrain park, equipment rentals and a fully licensed café.

Saturday’s event will include free lift passes for everyone and s’mores. Glow sticks and Chat4Chad-themed leis will be provided to those in attendance and raffle tickets for the 2024 Chat4Chad Gala will be sold on site.

The café, Average Joe’s, will be open in the lower chalet for food and drink purchases the outdoor beer garden will also be open for the event.

Ski equipment can be rented from the hill for a fee for those who need it.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. on March 2.
