NORTH BAY -- For Alice Addams, it all started at age 17 when she got her first tattoo, symbolizing new beginnings for her mom who had overcome life's struggles.

"I got roses on my hip..she's got lotus flowers on her shoulder. So that was something that we did together," said Addams.

Now, most of her body is covered in artwork.

Addams is currently in the running to be the next model on the cover of Inked Magazine.

The international competition to be the next Inked Cover Girl is heating up.

Addams' dream to appear on the cover is getting closer to becoming a reality, and winning would mean a lot to the hair stylist.

Some of the tattoos on her body include her cats, a butterfly, a raven, and the words "Stay True" across her fingers, among others.

"I have the word 'dreamer' written in large print across the front of my abdomen," said Addams.

"When I got that, it was because I have big dreams and now it's about turning your dreams into reality."

The owner of Rogue Alchemy Beauty Lounge in North Bay sits atop her group in the top 10.

The winner will be flown out to Los Angeles for a professional photoshoot, will appear on the cover, and will also be awarded $25,000.

Addams says she would use the money to take her mom on a trip and invest the rest into her hair salon.

"Because we're new, this money would really help us take our business to the next level and be able to offer a more prestigious experience for our clients," said Addams.

The beginning of the competition saw thousands of women enter the running for a shot to be on the cover and Addams found out about the contest while styling a client's hair for a wedding.

One of the bridesmaids found it, showed it to her and she then jumped on board.

Ever since her fame kicked off, the votes poured in and the support continues to grow from friends, family and clients.

"I'm so proud of my wife," said Chris Ali, Alice's husband.

"She's an amazing person and if there's anybody out there that deserves this win, it's her."

Alice has one final message to her voters, "Thank you from the bottom of my heart so much for helping make my dreams come true."

The competition began in February and ends on April 9.

If Addams finishes top of her group after five rounds of voting, she would move on to the quarter finals.

Addams says her life has changed since the competition began and the artwork on her body continues to inspire her every day to chase her dreams.
