NORTH BAY -- Over the last few weeks a trio of musicians from the North Bay Pipes and Drums group have been playing music for front line workers and for those inside self-isolating.

The trio have dubbed themselves 'The Piping Trio'. They've been spotted all over North Bay, bringing joy through the music they play.

"We need some joy and we need some uplifting right now with everything that's going on and we're getting people together," said Shannon Sanders, the organizer of The Piping Trio.

The small group started playing for neighbourhoods after performing a tribute on Vimy Ridge Day in April. They then decided to take it to the next level to bring joy during a dark time.

"My adrenaline starts pumping about a half an hour before we get to go out," said Piper Lisa Hurtubise. "It's super exciting."

Hundreds of online requests have poured in asking the group to play in their neighbourhoods. Viewers from as far as Colombia and France have tuned into their videos online.

The group remembers one request that came in from Vancouver.

"We had a lady's 88th birthday and I got contacted by her daughter who lives all the way in Vancouver, B.C. and we played for her," said Sanders." I video-called her during it and she was overjoyed."

The trio took time Saturday playing outside of the Marina Point Retirement Home for the staff and residents. The trio have also been spotted playing for long-term care homes in Mattawa and Powassan too.

"I myself work in the hospital, not in the front lines, but in the back, so I do see what's going on at the hospital," said piper Rob Sanders.

The trio hopes through their music, they can connect everyone through one note at a time.
