SUDBURY -- The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is warning the public about a scam it became aware of Thursday morning.
The health unit received a report Thursday morning from a member of the public who said they were called by someone pretending to be from the health unit.
The resident was asked "to participate in a phone survey from the health unit," said a news release. "The caller, pretending to be a health unit employee, asked questions about their COVID-19 status, pets and the number of people in the home."
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is not conducting phone surveys about COVID-19, and officials recommend residents not give out any personal information.
"If you receive a suspicious call, do not share personal information and contact your local police to report it," the release said. "You may also contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre."
