North Bay's mayor, Al McDonald, is re-affirming his stance that he had nothing to do with the creation of and hiring for a controversial corporate advisor position at city hall.

Documents show the former Chief Administrative Officer Jerry Knox was paid more than $200,000 a year for two years in a role of corporate advisor.

The job was given to Knox after his retirement from the CAO post and McDonald said he had nothing to do with it.

But in documents obtained by a local citizen through a freedom of information request, it's stated that several talks between the mayor and Knox did take place regarding the position.

However, the mayor remains adamant.

"Absolutely, I stand by my comments that I did not know anything about the title of corporate advisor. So, those were my comments, and I stand by it." said McDonald.

According to the confidential documents released, the job description for the corporate advisor position says the person in that role is to give assistance to the CAO.

There is no evidence Knox did any work in the position.
