North Bay man charged with sex assault of minors, drug trafficking
A 47-year-old North Bay man has been charged with sexually assaulting four people under the age of 16, as well as drug trafficking offences.
The accused was caught in a sting police set up after receiving reports that he was providing cocaine to underage victims.
“On multiple occasions, the accused sexually assaulted the victims,” North Bay police said in a news release Thursday.
“As part of the investigation, a member of the North Bay Police Service working in an undercover capacity, engaged with the accused and arranged to purchase a quantity of illegal drugs from the accused.”
Once the suspect arrived at the agreed location, he was arrested and police seized 18 grams of cocaine – street value around $1,850 -- and the accused’s pickup truck.
Charges include four counts each of sexual assault and sexual interference of someone under age 16, one count of invitation to sexual touching of someone under age 16 and three counts of drug trafficking.
The accused and victims are not known to one another, police said. The accused is being held pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
