North Bay man charged with kicking a woman, brandishing a machete
A 28-year-old man in North Bay is facing assault charges in connection with incidents over two days, including one in which he grabbed a machete.
The first took place Sept. 6 on Aberdeen Avenue when the accused was speaking to another man who was in a neighbouring backyard.
"The accused became aggressive and threw a baseball bat at the victim," North Bay police said in a news release Tuesday.
"At this point, the victim entered his residence, while a witness informed the accused that police would be contacted. The accused then fled the area."
On Sept. 7, a woman was at the man's residence to visit someone else, but the accused began yelling at her as soon as she arrived.
"The accused then pushed the (woman) onto the ground and began to kick her," police said.
"During the altercation, a quantity of Canadian currency fell out of the victim’s pocket and was taken by the accused. When the victim attempted to flee the area, she witnessed the accused brandish a machete."

The accused then chased the woman out of the residence and blocked her from entering her residence.
"When the accused was informed that the police had been contacted, he fled the area," police said.
"The accused was located and arrested by police later that same day. The accused and victims are known to each other."
Charges include two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of violating probation orders and one count of robbery.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
