North Bay police say a 51-year-old local man has been arrested and charged with accessing and possessing child pornography.

An investigation began after an image of child pornography was allegedly uploaded.

A search warrant was carried out on Thursday, June 20 at a North Bay home with the assistance of the Greater Sudbury Police Service Cyber Crime Unit.  Several devices were seized and will be examined further for evidence.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 2 to answer to the charges.

“The North Bay Police Service is part of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.” said Detective Constable Buchanan.

None of the allegations have been proven in a court of law.
