SUDBURY -- North Bay police say a local man has been arrested and charged after allegedly stabbing another man during a fight.

Officers responded to a call at a home on McIntyre Street West shortly after midnight on Saturday when an argument between two men turned physical.

The two men were hanging out at the victim's house with friends when the fight erupted, resulting in the victim being stabbed several times, police said in a news release.

The 21-year-old accused fled the scene and the cops were called. The victim was taken to hospital and remains in serious but stable condition.

Police arrested the accused later that morning at another home in North Bay.

He is charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
