SUDBURY -- A 37-year-old North Bay man is charged with several weapons offences following a June 30 incident on Cassells Street.

In a news release, the North Bay Police Service said they got the call around 11 p.m.

"A man not known to the accused was walking in the 600 block of Cassells Street in the North Bay," police said. "He observed the accused point a firearm in his direction."

At that point, he called 911 and police managed to arrest the man in a nearby parking lot.

"The accused was in possession of a loaded prohibited firearm which was seized by the police," the release said.

He is charged with pointing a firearm, possessing a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a weapon when he is banned from doing so, and one charge of breaching probation.

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing, police said.
