The driver of the silver vehicle that fled was found a short while later and charged with failing to yield to traffic on a highway, disobeying a sign and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.
"Failing to remain at the scene of a collision you are involved in is a serious offence," OPP said.
"You are required to remain at or immediately return to the collision and render all possible assistance while providing the necessary information to all involved parties."
In addition to a fine, penalties for failing to remain at the scene can also include jail time, driver's licence suspension, demerit points and insurance increases under the Highway Traffic Act.
