North Bay Battalion off to a hot start
The North Bay Battalion are off to a hot start this season. The team sits on top of the OHL’s Central Division and are playing well above .500.
Head coach Ryan Oulahen told CTV News the team’s depth has led to their early season success.
"We're just such a different makeup than what we were a year ago when we relied on a couple guys in particular very, very heavily," Oulahen said.
"Now, we don't have one guy in the top 15 in scoring I don't think, but there's a lot of guys who are in that 20-30 range of scoring, and that's the depth of our team."
"We've had some really impressive nights where our depth shows through and we can just keep rolling and rolling," added Oulahen.
The players have also noticed a change in the team.
"We had good depth last year, but this year I think we followed it up a lot. Adding a couple key parts this year, it's been great," said assistant captain and Seattle Kraken NHL draft pick Ty Nelson.
The team is known to come-from-behind when trailing in games and players said that's due to their no-quit attitude.
"We don't give up," said forward Dalyn Wakely.
"We've drawn experience from last year, we've learned from it a lot, having been through a lot and we never think we're out of games."
