There is some new money coming from Ottawa to help the Northern Ontario tourism business, and it will result in a lot of new signage pointing people toward local attractions in the region.

Thursday, Sault Ste. Marie MP, Terry Sheehan, announced that between 20 and 30 communities in Northern Ontario will benefit from a coordinated program designed to help travelers find their way to local tourist attractions.

The Government of Canada is providing $390,000 for the initiative, which is being implemented by Tourism Northern Ontario.

A three-year funding agreement will enable TNO to guide the development of regional guide maps and brochures, as well as design, produce and install up to 1,500 bilingual tourism signs across Northern Ontario.
