SUDBURY -- The Porcupine Health Unit reported one new COVID-19 case Wednesday among residents in the health unit's coverage area.

Case No. 72 is a Timmins man in his 20s, the health unit said. He was tested Aug. 3 and is now self isolating. The source of the infection is unknown and is under investigation.

"This serves as an important reminder that we need to remain vigilant, COVID-19 is still circulating," the health unit said in a news release. "It is strongly recommended that all community members follow the measures proven to reduce the risk of spread – physical distancing, hand washing, cough and sneeze etiquette, not touching your face and washing commonly touched surfaces."

Residents are urged to wear a non-medical mask or face covering when inside public spaces, and, outdoors if physical distancing is a challenge.

"Remember there are some individuals who may not be able to do this, including young children and those with certain medical conditions," the release said. "Be kind, we are all in this together!"
