SUDBURY -- While some businesses have had to shut down during the pandemic, others have been opening up.

Just last week Healthy Vibes Wellness Spa opened. The owner, Shari Levesque, said even though we are in the midst of a pandemic, there was a no better time to open than now.

“It was a little intimidating and a little scary, but I knew this was the perfect time to open this spa because everything we do helps to boost your immune system,” said Levesque.

She said her facility is fully contact-free.

“So as you come in we assign you a locker, and then I take you right into the sun room," Levesque said. "You sit on your own, you put your feet on the detoxers … Then I will guide you into the next room. Every station is very social distanced and we only have about three people allowed at a time.

"You can do the whole body vibration and then into the sauna and the massage chair without anyone touching you, and yet still get the experience of being in a spa.”

J’s Roadhouse is a new restaurant in the city that opened two locations during the pandemic. The general manager said even though there were some challenges when the store opened, the support has been there since day one.

“So the first two weeks were a little bit hectic,” said Pete Danakas, area manager of J’s Roadhouse Bar + Grill. “We had to adhere to the rules and regulations. Making sure the sanitizer stations were there … it was all new to everybody, and we didn’t know, so now it’s pretty routine.”

In addition, Danakas said next to J’s Roadhouse in Val Caron, Lot 88 Express is also getting ready to open its doors at the end of November.

Both the Healthy Vibes Wellness Spa and J’s Roadhouse say they are looking forward to what’s ahead.
