SUDBURY -- It's a timely idea as the first official day of winter arrives Saturday.

An app launched this week provides on-demand snow clearing services in Sault Ste. Marie.

It's an entrepreneurial initiative that is starting up in the Soo, but its creators expect it to be available in other cities.

People who download the app can register either as a customer or a provider.

"If we're in the middle of a huge storm… there might be a shortage of providers, but in initial testing, we think there's going to be a great balance of providers and customers. We think it's going to work well. We think it's exactly going to work like Uber works," said James Caicco, SnowJob app.

SnowJob can be found in the Apple Store and Google Play.
