Natalie van Rooy
Videojournalist, North Bay
Natalie van Rooy is a videojournalist with CTV News Northern Ontario in North Bay.
She has reported on the Attawapiskat crisis, the opening of the world’s largest polar bear habitat in Cochrane and the impact of residential schools on Indigenous populations.
Prior to joining CTV, she worked at Global News Toronto on the assignment desk, as an online writer and as an editorial assistant. Her career highlights at Global News include producing coverage for the 2015 federal election and the 2015 Pan Am Games.
Natalie also interned as a videographer for CHEX TV in the Oshawa bureau, where she shot, produced and edited daily news stories. In the summer of 2013, she worked as an intern reporter at TV10 News in Kigali, Rwanda, where she reported on a local grenade attack.
Natalie graduated with High Honours from Carleton University in Ottawa with a Bachelor of Journalism Combined Honours in Law. She has a passion for journalism and appreciates being a storyteller.
Natalie was born and raised in Pickering, Ont. She is happy to now call Northern Ontario her home and when she’s not covering news, she enjoys hiking, travelling and a good book.
