Mystery tour features emerging musicians
The Up Here Festival is in full swing this weekend.
A section of Durham Street in downtown Sudbury is blocked off to accommodate street events that are part of the urban arts festival.
Organizers said the aim of the festival is to beautify the downtown with murals and painted power boxes and to showcase emerging musicians.
"We are presenting pay what you can concerts here on the streets. We are doing concerts at Place Des Arts. We are doing late nights down on the Elgin strip and we have a bunch of new murals going to all around town," Christian Pelletier, a co-founder of the Up Here Festival, told CTV News.
On Sunday afternoon there is a free mystery tour featuring three different sites all within walking distance of downtown with surprise performances at each one.
"The best part about it is you don't know what you are doing to see. It's really for people who are die-hard music fans or not, who like surprises," said Michel Laforge, the media relations coordinator for the festival.
"And a notification goes out on your phone if you have the Up Here app, that is the best way find out where the next show is going to be. We send those applications a few minutes in advance so people can get there.
The app is available for both Apple and Android devices.
The mystery tour gets underway at 2 p.m. Sunday.
