NORTH BAY -- The North Bay Police Service have charge two people from North Bay with multiple offences related to a Callander post office break-in.

According to police, sometime between 6 p.m. on Friday, April 3 and 8a.m. on Monday, April 6, an individual or individuals pried open the secure front door leading into the mail room lobby.  

Some personal and commercial mail boxes were also pried open but police had not yet determined what items had been stolen.

The investigation later found that cheques were taken and were endorsed with fraudulent signatures and deposited into bank accounts belonging to the suspects.

A 25-year-old woman from North Bay has been charged with multiple offences including Fraud, five counts of Property Obtained by Crime and five counts of Uttering a Forged Document.

A 36-year-old man from North Bay has also been charged with Fraud, Property Obtained by Crime and Breach of Recognizance.

The woman has been released and will appear in court on June 9.

The man remains in police custody pending a bail hearing.
