SUDBURY -- Municipal Road 35 is now open in both directions, Greater Sudbury Police tweeted Wednesday afternoon.

"The investigation into the collision is ongoing," the tweet said. "Anyone with information related to the collision is asked to contact us at 705-675-9171."

Update No. 2

One person was killed Wednesday morning in a collision involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle, Greater Sudbury Police say.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 51-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, a 49-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with injuries.

"Deepest condolences to those involved and impacted," police said in a tweet. "Road remains closed. Investigation ongoing."

Greater Sudbury police and firefighters are currently rerouting traffic around the accident scene.

Police tweeted that barricades will be set up Elizabeth Street at Pilon Street, Notre Dame Avenue West at MR35 and MR35 at Montee Principale.

The police traffic management unit is at the scene conducting investigation.

Greater Sudbury Police are investigating a serious Motor vehicle collision on Municipal Road 35 between Notre Dame Avenue in Azilda and Chelmsford.

In a tweet Wednesday morning, police said the highway is closed and drivers are asked to find alternate routes.
