Gunshot shatters window of Montreal supervised injection site

The window of a supervised injection site in Montreal’s Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough was shattered by gunfire late Wednesday night.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 11 p.m. about the incident on Sainte-Catherine Street near Joliette Street.

“When the police arrived on the scene, they found that the window of the centre was broken and at least one shell casing was on the ground,” said Manuel Couture, a spokesperson with Montreal police.

There were no reported injuries.

Two men, aged 24 and 33, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

They are expected to meet with investigators later in the day.

An investigation is underway, and the security perimeter has been lifted.
