Montreal motorist dead after 5-vehicle collision in Kirkland Lake: OPP

Ontario Provincial Police in Kirkland Lake, Ont., are investigating a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 11 that killed one person.

Kirkland Lake OPP say emergency responders were called to a collision involving five vehicles on Highway 11, north of Highway 112.

They say a 53-year-old individual from Montreal was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

They say a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at a later date.

Police say investigators were on scene for about 20 hours and the highway remained closed for another 13 hours due to poor weather conditions.

The highway has since reopened, and more details about the incident will be released as they become available.
