The Ontario Provincial Police in northern Ontario are looking for information to help them identify the remains of an unknown man.

Human remains were discovered in 2017 near Montreal River between Wawa and Sault Ste. Marie and the OPP are hoping by sharing a video that they created on social media, it can help them find the identity of the person.

"In this particular case we've also leveraged technology and used social media such as Twitter and Facebook to reach more people than ever before." said OPP sergeant Carlo Berardi.

Police do not believe foul play was involved.

They say the man is between the ages of 45 and 65 and is roughly between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall.

In the video, they show what he was wearing and what he had on him.

“We have collected many of his personal things and we are hoping by displaying them to the public there will be someone would recognize some of his personal effects and identify him." said Berardi.

They say that the evidence suggests that he was carrying an elongated cardboard box, which contained a rifle.

Police say they believe the man died along the Superior coast in 2016, but his remains were not found until 2017.

They hope the new video in 2018 will help to solve the mystery of who he is before the New Year.
