Two people have been charged in East Ferris Township after a victim was lured into an ambush and attacked by their former partner.

Ontario Provincial Police said the attack took place June 19 just after midnight at a residence on Highway 94.

“The victim was lured to the residence by their former partner, ambushed and assaulted with a blunt object,” OPP said in a news release Thursday.

“Both accused were located and arrested on June 27.”

Police rarely release the gender of suspects or victims and that information was not included in the release.

A 28-year-old from East Ferris Township is charged with assault, assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, mischief under $5,000, obstructing justice, intimidation and failing to comply with a probation order.

A 24-year-old from North Bay is charged with assault, conspiracy to commit offences and failing to comply with a release order.

Both accused were held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.

“The OPP will not release the names of the accused to protect the identity of the victim and witnesses involved,” police said.
