Two vicious attacks take place at Sault businesses
Two employees at businesses in Sault Ste. Marie were victims of recent unprovoked assaults.
The Sault Police Service said a 22-year-old was charged May 7 for aggravated assault and violating probation in connection with an incident April 25 at a business on Great Northern Road.
“Officers were dispatched to the business, where it was determined a victim had been physically attacked by someone unknown to them,” police said in a news release.
“The victim sustained serious physical injuries and was taken to hospital prior to officers’ arrival.”
The suspect was arrested May 7 while they were at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre after being arrested on another matter.
Charges include aggravated assault and two counts of violating probation. They are being held in custody ahead of a bail hearing.
And on May 8, a 40-year-old was charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and assaulting a peace officer following an incident at a business on Trunk Road.
“An investigation revealed the accused had assaulted an employee when asked to leave the business, punching them and hitting them with a stool,” police said.
