A city councillor in Greater Sudbury isn't happy with an increase in cab fares, which could take effect April 10th.

Fern Cormier was the lone dissenting vote after the city's finance committee approved a 5% hike Tuesday.

Cab companies in Sudbury say they need the extra money for maintenance and driver salaries after the provincial minimum wage hike came into effect in January. 

The increase in taxi rates will keep the city in line with other nearby cities like Sault Ste. Marie and North Bay.
