Ontario Provincial Police say they arrested two teenagers around 1:30 am Sunday morning in Temiskaming Shores.

After receiving a call about people going through unlocked vehicles on Farah Avenue, police located and arrested a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old shortly after.

The investigation is ongoing and more details will be provided as they become available.

Police say that thieves can get into and steal your vehicle in just 30 seconds, even without a key. They are encouraging drivers to remember to lock the doors of your home and your vehicle as a good proactive crime prevention method, as well:

  • Keep valuables out of sight, including locking them in the trunk of your vehicle before parking at your final destination
  • Always park in a well-lit area
  • Never leave your vehicle running while unattended
  • Lock your doors at all times

Thieves tend to target items that are easy to carry and move with.

Anytime you witness suspicious activity, please report it to the police so it can be investigated.  Get as much information as possible, but to stay safe, do not interfere with the crime scene.

Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
