Ontario Provincial Police in Almaguin Highlands responded to a snowmobile incident on Sunday afternoon.
A snowmobile went into open water March 24 at around noon on Hassard Lake in the town of Kearney, over an hour south of North Bay.
Police say that Shawn McAllister, 42 of Zorra Township, near London, was driving his snowmobile on the lake near open water when he fell in.
He was pulled out of the lake, but was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police would like to remind snowmobilers to check the ice condition before travelling on lakes, rivers or waterways.
