The City of Sault Ste. Marie says it is not opting out of the pot store business.

So, if someone gets a licence and wants to set up in the community, the city is all for it.

City council voted in favour of having a cannabis retail store in the city on Monday night, but it does say, if and when a licensed retailer wants to open up in the future,  locations will be limited.

“The document given to us clearly state that the location will not be near schools, will not be near child care areas. Will not be near clinics that are helping others." said Councillor Sandra Hollingsworth.

All communities need to let the province know by next week if they are okay with pot stores or are opting out.
