In Sault Ste. Marie, a last-ditch effort made Wednesday to get a deal done between nurses and nurse practitioners at Algoma Public Health has been successful

Ontario Nurses Association, the union representing the nurses, and Algoma Public Health took part in a mediation session Wednesday.

CTV News has learned the two parties have reached a new tentative agreement, and will release details Thursday.

This move could avoid a strike or lockout for the 58 health care professionals who have been without a contract since April 2017.
