Now that ridesharing is operating in North Bay, the Police board is looking to streamline a new bylaw.

At a previous meeting, the board had said it was looking to roll out a new bylaw that would include ridesharing, taxis and limousines.

That sparked major pushback from the taxi industry.

And now, with ridesharing operating in the city as of this past weekend, the board says it's looking to even out the playing field with a new bylaw in place by July 9th.

“We understand there's a lot of frustration there's a lot of anxiety you don't know what your business is going to look like but I'll just repeat it again, once there's a level playing field of everybody falls under the same bylaw, then let's face it, this is competition and this is the way Canada works is competition, but it has to be fair.” said Dennis O’Connor, North Bay Police Board Chair.

The board says it will also be holding two town hall meetings between now and the rollout of the new bylaw.
