SUDBURY -- Jack Sikora of Timmins won $82,005.30 in the June 5 Lotto Max second prize draw, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. announced Tuesday. Sikora matched six numbers plus the bonus number to win the prize.

A 62-year old retired welder, Sikora stopped at a retailer for some items and when checking out, the cashier asked if he would like a Lotto Max ticket for that evening’s draw.

“I said, OK," Sikora said in the OLG news release. "He was a good salesman.”

After the draw, his girlfriend scanned his ticket for him on her phone using the OLG Lottery App.

“The Big Winner message appeared and my eyes just about popped out of my head,” he said.

The father and grandfather plans to do some travelling when he feels it is safe to do so again.

“I have no idea what my plans are, all I know is I’ll have fun spending it,” Sikora said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Esso on the Run on River Park Road in Timmins.

The OLG Prize Centre in Toronto is now accepting in-person prize claim appointments for winning-ticket holders of $10,000 or more. Appointments for prizes of this value will be granted if requested, however prizes up to $49,999.90 do not have to be claimed in-person and customers are encouraged to continue to mail in these claims when possible.

Lotto Max players in Ontario have won more than $5.5 billion since 2009.
